Surgery update
Hi everyone! One of the first mornings since surgery that I’ve felt like getting out of bed. I had less pain overnight and finally slept through the whole night!
Yesterday, they took out my stitches, and I’m allowed to use my hand to wash my hair now. Yes, I’ll be less stinky! The swelling is also going down, and I’m beginning to recognize my hand again.
I’m starting gentle physio to get my fingers moving. I also have to teach my brain how to use my hand and wrist again and how to work without that row of bones. It feels different. It’s hard and exhausting, but I’m moving toward recovery, and I’m starting to feel hopeful.
I still can’t lift anything heavier than half a kilo, so I’m basically one-armed for now. Life is surprisingly hard one-handed: cooking is almost impossible (everything requires two hands to open, balance, move), and even little chores like folding laundry are out of reach. I’m lucky to have wonderful friends who come by every day to help with laundry and light cleaning. And I’m especially grateful that I can finally wash my own hair!
Typing is still too painful, and I don’t have enough strength in my fingers yet, so work or writing nice blogs for you isn’t possible right now. I’m hoping I may be able to type again in another 1-2 weeks.
For now, I’m taking it one small step at a time and feeling hopeful about the progress.
How are things with you? Any news to share?

Thanks for the update, Sarah. Although you can’t type at the moment you have left us with so much material already and a wonderful community so that we are growing regardless.
The past weeks I was feeling confused by the personality result, as my behaviours don’t fit the “mould”. The doubts were seeping into progress with the homework assignment but then we had a check in and I got inspired and somehow it is coming together again.

PS - if the pain killers do a number on... well specifically number 2 - kiwis and pears work wonders even when dates don't move things along.
