I canāt count the number of times in my life when Iāve had my hopes crushed.
Not getting the job you thought was yours.
The house or apartment you prayed would become your home slipping away.
A marriage ending.
A love that was never returned.
A boss who crushed more than they built.
The sting of betrayal, the ache of abuse.
A friend who drifts, or worse, walks away.
A body that falters when your spirit longs to run.
Finances unraveling, debts, layoffs, the fear of not being enough.
The silence after your art, your work, your words are offered⦠and refused.
š¤ Iāve faced so many of these at different points in my journey. And in those moments, it feels like the lowest of the low, like nothing will ever work out in work, in love, or in life.
When youāre in that place, it feels endless. Like youāll never climb out of the well. Even paralyzed.
But every time Iāve fallen deep, after the tears, after feeling it all⦠Iāve lifted my head and seen the light at the top.
ā¤ļøāš„ A reminder that second chances wait.
ā¤ļøāš„ New opportunities appear.
ā¤ļøāš„ Better situations rise when we choose to rise.
One lesson I carry: learn from the past, but donāt drag the pain forward.
Guard your heart, not by closing it, but by protecting it from bitterness. Because bitterness ruins new chances.
Adapt. Trust. Stay open. And let the winds of change carry you higher.
š Todayās dragon truth from Breath of the Dragon, my book that grabs the top 100 lessons one learns from my other book, The Leadership Leap:
āAdaptation turns reflection into momentumālearn from each moment, adjust your course, and use every shift as fuel to move further and make a greater impact.ā
š āA wise dragon studies the windsānot to stand still, but to change course and ride them farther than before.ā
š¬ Which of these have you lived, the job, the home, the love, the friendship, the health, the rejection? And what did you learn when you finally looked up and saw the light?
š² On September 25 in Utrecht, Iāll be reading live from The Leadership Leap, signing books, and hosting a live coaching evening to help leaders turn setbacks into strength.
