We often think our choices are rational. Logical. Neutral.
But the truth is, every decision we make is guided by our deepest beliefs, the convictions we’ve carried from childhood, culture, and lived experience.
📖 Breath of the Dragon, Lesson 14:
“Your deepest beliefs steer every choice—name them, challenge the ones that limit you, and rewrite them so they fuel the leader you’re becoming.”
🐉 “A dragon cannot chart a new course if it still follows an old map drawn in fear.”
In The Leadership Leap, Chapter 11: The Layers Within, I write about how convictions live beneath behavior, unseen, yet steering everything. Sometimes they empower us. Sometimes they chain us.
I’ve carried both kinds.
🖤 Beliefs that whispered “you’re only valuable if you prove yourself.”
🖤 Convictions that said “loyalty means never leaving, no matter how much it costs you.”
🖤 Old maps etched in fear, scarcity, or survival.
But I’ve also carried empowering ones.
💚 That integrity matters more than outcomes.
💚 That people are worthy of trust, belonging, and compassion.
💚 That leadership is about service, not status.
The work is to name them.
To challenge the ones that hold you back.
To rewrite them so they fuel your growth instead of limiting your flight.
Because the beliefs you carry will decide the skies you can enter.
💬 Which belief are you ready to question, rewrite, or release, so you can lead with more clarity, courage, and freedom?
🐲 On September 25 in Utrecht, I’ll be reading live from The Leadership Leap, signing books, and hosting (sponsored by iO) a live coaching evening together with Pascal and Maria where we’ll explore how to uncover and reshape the beliefs that define our leadership.
