💚🐉 The book I’d been writing since I was a teenager… isn’t the one I published first.

For years, I worked on a book about my life. I’d start, stop, rewrite. Then last October, a free weekend book-writing course landed in my lap.
That weekend taught me:
🐲 Start with purpose, What do you want people to feel and do after reading your book?
🐲 Break your book into 10 chapters.
🐲 For each, list 10 topics.
🐲 For each topic, ask 3–5 questions.
🐲 Magic step: Answer the questions whenever you have time, even in 5 minutes.
Other truths learned that weekend:
🔥 Don’t be a perfectionist.
🔥 Don’t waste money on publishers.
🔥 Most people never read the books they buy (yes, this stung).
🔥 100–200 pages is plenty…
🔥 Most people never finish writing their book!
I decided - I’m not most people.
In January, I booked 10 days in an Airbnb by the beach.
With all my questions ready, I wrote 16–18 hours a day.
The book poured out of me, these were lessons I’d been teaching for years.
The hardest part? Editing. Formatting. Margins. Bleed spaces. Rim allowances.
Four months. Three proof prints.
And then… my “first” book was born:
📖 The Leadership Leap – Now Without Crash Landings.
Not 100 pages. Not 200 pages. Seven hundred and fifty!!
Since then, I’ve also published my second book, a small flip book called Breath of the Dragon, designed to help you skip straight to the distilled lessons of my big book.
And the book about my life? It’s still waiting, but here’s how it begins:
Prelude
As I step into my bath, the water, not as hot as I crave on days clouded by pain, wraps around me with a gentle embrace. The bath bombs dissolve with a soft fizz, releasing swirls of lavender and eucalyptus into the air…
My story, filled with resilience, truth, and transformation, is no exception. I need to release the words that have filled my life, so that the stories no longer consume my deepest pores.
I want to breathe with ease and let go of the pains of the past. So here it goes, this is my story…
❤️🔥 Dreams rarely follow the order we expect. I thought my life story would be my first book, but sometimes the book you need to write first opens the door for the book you’ve been carrying all along.
